  5. HEALING HERBS provides information about 20 common herbs. Please 
  6. enjoy this program and use it for reference, but do not use it as 
  7. a substitute for medical care.

  9. TO START THE PROGRAM: Enter the command HERBS
  10.  
  11. After reading the opening screen, press <ENTER>. You will see the
  12. following menu:
  13.  
  14.      HERBS
  15.      DISEASES
  16.      HERBAL PROPERTIES
  17.      REFERENCE BOOKS
  18.      QUIT
  19.  
  20. Use the up and down arrow keys to move the indicator to the menu
  21. item you want to choose. Then press <ENTER>. At any time during
  22. program operation, press the <ESC> key to return to the previous
  23. screen.

  25. HERBS - If you pick HERBS, you will see a list of herbs. Use the arrow 
  26.   keys to move the indicator to the one that interests you and press
  27.   <ENTER>.
  28.  
  29.   DISEASES EASED - This lists the ailments for this herb is used.
  30.   PROPERTIES - This describes the qualities of the herb. Put the
  31.     indicator here and press <ENTER> for more details.
  32.   PREPARATION - This tells how the herb is normally prepared for use.
  33.     Put the indicator here and press <ENTER> for instructions.
  34.   USES - This tells how the herb is used. "Internal" means eating
  35.     or drinking it. "External" means applying it to the outside of
  36.     the body.
  37.   WARNING - If there are problems or dangers associated with the herb,
  38.     they are listed here.
  39.  
  40. DISEASES - If you pick DISEASES, you will see a list of ailments.
  41.   Use the arrow keys to more the indicator to the one that interests
  42.   you and press <ENTER>. You'll see a list of herbs that may be
  43.   helpful in treating this disease.

  45. HERBAL PROPERTIES - If you pick HERBAL PROPERTIES, you'll see a list
  46.   of qualities different herbs may have. Use the arrow keys to move
  47.   the indicator to the one that interests you and press <ENTER>. You'll
  48.   see an explanation of the property and a list of relevant herbs.

  50. REFERENCE BOOKS - If you pick REFERENCE BOOKS, you'll see a list of
  51.   books that are recommended for further study.
  52.  
  53. QUIT - If you pick QUIT, the program will end and you'll be returned
  54.   to the DOS prompt.

  56. We wrote this herbal primer as part of a Pascal class we took at 
  57. the University of South Florida. We've decided to make it freely
  58. available for non-commercial use. You may make copies of this
  59. program for yourself and others, as long as you do not charge any
  60. fee for it, do not include it with other materials for which you
  61. charge a fee, and do not provide it in connection with any kind of
  62. professional venture, promotion or advertising. Any copies you
  63. give to others must contain all our original files, unchanged.
